Waste Treatment
In-house Changes Local Waste Transfer Constructed Wetland

Due to the limited life span of built environments in coastal areas, it is better to find small-scale, at home waste treatment options in the study area. Sewer lines and other major infrastructures would be difficult to maintain and insure. Septic, until now, has been the preferred method of waste disposal. However, septic systems will become more and more problematic as water levels rise and de-nitrofication becomes standard. New technologies are on the market, with surely more to come, that are able to treat waste in a highly efficient manner. Some of these systems are able to produce 'cakes' which act similarly to coal furnaces in home heating systems. Using slow pumps, grinders, and efficient processing technologies, these may become the preferred method of waste disposal in the future. The below image is a proprietary solution to at home waste treatment. It uses a water tight tanks and a very small mechanical station to treat and denitrofy waste. The cost of such systems is currently very high.
